NTL SOFTBALL: WELLSBORO CAN'T HANG ONTO LEAD IN LOSS TO WYALUSING (2025-04-01)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportWYALUSING — A four-run second inning lifted the Wyalusing Lady Rams to a 6-4 victory over Wellsboro in NTL softball action on Tuesday.
The Lady Hornets got off to a quick start, scoring three first-inning runs. Ady Frantz led the game off with a solo home run, followed by Paige Logsdon reaching base on a fielders choice and a Teagan Novinger single, putting two runners aboard.
A bunt by Delaney Morral scored Logsdon as Morral reached base on an error, then senior Madelynn Losinger grounded out to 2nd but scored freshman Hannah Taylor, running for Novinger.
The Lady Rams got a run back in the bottom half of the inning, then scored four runs in the second frame to take a 5-3 lead over Wellsboro. The Lady Hornets did cut the lead down to 5-4 in the top of the third, as Rylee Coolidge was hit with a pitch and Logsdon drove her home with a single.
Wyalusing added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth while holding Wellsboro scoreless the rest of the way to earn the 6-4 win.
Novinger led Wellsboro at the plate, going 2-for-4, while Frantz and Logsdon added the remaining two of the Lady Hornets' four hits on the afternoon.
Logsdon suffered the loss on the mound, allowing four runs (0 earned) on one hit with three walks and a strikeout in one and a third innings. Frantz came on for the final four and two-third innings, allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Wellsboro falls to 1-5 (1-5 NTL Large School Division) with the loss. They are back in action Thursday when they are scheduled to host Sullivan County.
