HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD SQUADS COMPETE AT KIRBY CLASSIC RELAY MEET IN CANTON (2025-04-04)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportCANTON — The North Penn-Mansfield Track & Field teams took part in the Kirby Classic Relays in Canton on Friday with the boys placing fourth and the girls finishing in seventh place.
The boys didn’t crown an event champ but had a pair of runner-up finishes with Brody Grinnell taking second in the javelin (137-9) and Sudan Benner in the 400 (52.47).
Luke Kreger was third in the high jump (6-0), Cedric Miller was fourth in the 400 (56.16), Michael Knefley was fifth in the 1600 meter run (4:42.18) and Benner placed fifth in the 200 (23.68).
Brady Stetter placed eighth in both the long jump (17-10.50) and the shot put (36-2.5) while Truman Laudenslager was ninth in the triple jump (36-0), Braeden VanLoon placed ninth in the 800 (2:12.15) and Mason Forer was ninth in the 3200 (11:42.19).
Asher York was a team-best 13th in the 300 meter hurdles (53.29) while Landon House finished 18th in the discus (83-2.50).
High finishers for the Lady Tigers included: Madilyn Scott taking third in the triple jump (30-9.25), Anna Kennedy placing fifth in the 200 (28.18) and Jaci Fairchild placing sixth in the 1600 (6:04.93) and Nora Furry taking sixth in the high jump (4-6).
Furry was eighth in the 300 hurdles (54.95), Carolyn Cherwinski placed 10th in the long jump (13-3) and Fairchild was 11th in the 800 (2:51.12). Iris Irwin finished 14th in the discus (69-10.50), 19th in the shot put (23-6) and 23rd in the javelin (57-3).
Hughesville won the boys’ title (181 pts.), followed by Troy (122.5), Wyalusing (81), North Penn-Mansfield (63), Northeast Bradford (52), Towanda (49), Canton (40), Williamson (17.5) and Sayre (14).
The Spartans also won on the girls’ side (153.5), followed by Williamson (91), Towanda (86.5), Troy (75.5), Canton (74), Wyalusing (39), North Penn-Mansfield (36.5), Northeast Bradford (34), Elk Lake (13) and Sayre (8).
