HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD EARNS PAIR OF LOPSIDED WINS OVER NORTHERN POTTER (2025-04-17)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportULYSSES, PA — North Penn-Mansfield pounded out 28 base hits and scored 35 runs in a double-header sweep of the host Northern Potter Panthers here Thursday, winning 18-3 and 17-1.
In the first game, the Tigers collected 15 hits, scored six runs in the first inning and had an eight-run fourth on their way to the 18-3 rout.
Riley Oakes (4 RBI, 2 R) and Jason Harer (2 RBI, R) had three hits each, while Cooper Shaw (2B, 3 RBI, 2 R), Easton Pequignot (2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) and Alex Davis (2 RBI, 3 R) had two apiece. Isaac Sparks, Noah Musser (RBI) and Brady Bower (2 R) had a base hit each while Andy Hermansen had and RBI and two runs scored, Liam Shaut scored twice and Conner Lewis and Cameron Caldwell each scored once.
Davis pitched the first inning, allowing two earned runs on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts, while Pequignot threw the final four innings and gave up an earned run on three base hits with four strikeouts.
In game two Mansfield scored three runs in each of the first two innings and used an 11 run third frame to end the game early, winning 17-1.
Davis (5 RBI, 4 R) collected four base hits, including a home run and a double, while Hermansen (2B, 2 RBI, 3 R) had three hits and Harer (RBI, 2 R) had two.
Pequignot (RBI, 2 R), Oakes (2 RBI, R), Shaut (RBI) and Musser (RBI, 2 R) had a base hit each while Shaw had an RBI and scored a run and Caldwell and Logan Arbogast each scored.
Shaw threw the first inning, allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk with one K and Hermansen threw the last two frames, not allowing a run and giving up two hits with three strikeouts.
The Tigers (7-1) are at Wyalusing on Monday.
