HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: WELLSBORO DROPS NON-LEAGUE GAME ON THE ROAD TO SHIKELLAMY (2025-05-10)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportBLOOMSBURG — Wellsboro traveled to Bloom Saturday to face Shikellamy and a 7-run inning by the Braves would doom the Hornets in a 10-6, non-league loss.
Wellsboro scored first, plating a run in the first inning, but would be held off the scoreboard until the fifth inning when they scored two runs, added a run in the sixth and their final two runs in the seventh. Shikellamy scored all their runs early with two in the first frame, a single run in the second and their big inning in the third when they scored seven.
The Hornets had nine base hits to Shik’s seven, as Max Mascho (2b, 3b, 1 run) had two hits and Marek Mascho (1 rbi), Cameron Owlett (1 rbi), Gabe Cuneo (1 rbi, 1 run), Dustin Owlett (3b, 1 run), Ryder Bowen (3b, 1 run), Coen Tennis (3b) and Alec Magli (1 rbi, 1 run) each had a base hit, Gabe Sprouse scored a run and Syler Pietrzyk had an RBI.
Wellsboro used four pitchers in the loss. Dylan Copp pitched two innings and allowed five earned runs on three hits and three walks, while Sprouse threw two innings and gave up five unearned runs on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts, Pietrzyk went two innings and gave up a hit and walked one and Dustin Owlett walked three Shikellamy batters.
The Hornets drop back below .500 with the loss at 8-9. They’re scheduled to host Williamson on Monday.
