Frantz’s two-out homer in the first inning gave the Lady Hornets a 1-0 lead that held until the home half of the third when Athens scored three runs. They’d tack on two more runs in the fourth to provide the final.

Teagan Novinger and Frantz each finished with two base hits in the loss, while Paige Logsdon and Harleigh Cleveland had one hit each.

Frantz threw a complete game for Wellsboro, allowing five runs (2 earned) on six base hits and four walks with six strikeouts. 

Wellsboro (5-12) is scheduled to return to action Wednesday at Northeast Bradford.
