NTL SOFTBALL: LADY MOUNTIES USE BIG SIXTH INNING TO PULL AWAY FROM WILLIAMSON (2025-05-14)

ELKLAND — North Penn-Liberty scored the final six runs of the game here Wednesday to pull away from the host Williamson Warriors and won 10-3.

The Lady Mounties built a 4-1 lead, scoring a run in the first inning, two in the second and another in the fourth while Williamson plated one in the bottom of the second. But the Lady Warriors made it a one-run game with two more scores in the fourth.

After a scoreless fifth, Liberty got back-to-back, one out singles from Haley Litzelman and Addie Smith before Elaina Shaw doubled to score both. Kaylee Graham reached base on an error and Shaw scored on the Williamson miscue, followed by a Claire Dominick double and another Warrior error .. off the bat of Kameron Lightner .. to score Dominick and give the Mounties a more comfortable, 9-3 lead.

North Penn-Liberty tacked on their final run in the top of the seventh when Maddie Smith reached on an error and later in the inning scored on a single by Addie Smith. 

The Mounties had 10 base hits in the game, including four for extra bases. Addie Smith (2 rbi, 2 runs) led the way with four hits while Litzelman (3b, 2 runs) and Shaw (2b, 2 rbi, 1 run) had two hits each. 

Dominick (2b, rbi, run) and Maddie Smith (3b, 2 rbi, run) had the Mounties’ remaining hits while Lightner, Maddie McNamara and Graham all scored a run. 

Elyna Booth earned the win for Liberty, going all seven innings and allowing three runs (2 earned) on three hits and a walk with 11 strikeouts. 

Kenna Thomas (3b, rbi, run), Kaegan Short (2b, run) and Aubree Roe had Williamson’s base hits in the loss while Olivia Gee had an RBI and scored a run.

Thomas started for the Warriors and went five and two-third innings, giving up nine runs (3 earned) on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Gee threw the final inning and a third and allowed an unearned run on one hit with one strikeout. 

Now 13-3 on the season, North Penn-Liberty is scheduled to play their final regular season game on Friday at Wyalusing.

Williamson (9-8) is scheduled to host Addison (NY) on Thursday and visit Smethport on Friday to finish their regular season.
