NTL GIRLS TENNIS: HORNETS FALL 3-0 TO TOWANDA IN SHORTENED MATCH (2021-09-13)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Hornets were winning two of their match-ups with Towanda Monday before lightning and rain ended the match early, but the Black Knights had already won the remaining three, giving them the 3-0 win.
Wellsboro’s Hannah Nuss was up 6-3, 3-6, 3-2 on Towanda’s Jocelyn Stroud in the #3 singles match when play was stopped, and Hornet duo Kayleigh Harper and Leslie Bowers were up 6-3, 4-2 on Towanda’s Katey Calaman and Danica Vargason in the #2 doubles match.
Michaela Sedor fell 0-6, 1-6 in the #1 singles match to Towanda’s Hannah Ryck, and Ana Perry lost 3-6, 2-6 to Hannah Risch in the #2 spot.
Wellsboro pair Gillian Hernandez and Kailey Zuchowski fell in the #1 doubles match to Lainey Alderfer, 1-6, 2-6.
Wellsboro falls to 0-7 with the loss. They will return to the court Thursday when they host Bucktail.
