Hughesville took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and the Tigers answered in the home half, plating three runs on singles by Alex Davis, Cooper Shaw and Jason Harer and an Easton Pequignot double to go up 3-2.

In the second, Hughesville loaded the bases on a pair of singles and a Mansfield error .. one of eight miscues the Tigers committed in the loss. A Spartan home run cleared the bases and Hughesville took a 6-2 lead that held until the bottom of the fourth inning. 

Riley Oakes and Liam Shaut singled for Mansfield and Noah Musser hit into a fielder’s choice that left him on first and Oakes at third. Collin Oakes singled brother Riley home, Davis singled to score Musser and Collin Oakes and later scored on passed ball to give the Tigers a 7-6 lead after four innings of play.

Hughesville re-took the lead in the top of the fifth with a pair of runs and added three more in the sixth and one in the seventh to go up 12-7. 

In their last at-bat, Mansfield got a leadoff single from Davis and after a fly-out, Shaw singled to score Davis. But Hughesville would limit the Tigers to the lone run in the seventh and seal the upset win. 

Davis led the Tigers with four base hits in the senior’s final high school game. Including a double, two RBI and three runs scored, while classmate Shaw had a pair of hits with two RBI and scored once. 

Harer had two base hits and an RBI, Pequignot had a double, an RBI and a run scored, Collin Oakes had a hit, an RBI and scored a run, Riley Oakes had a hit and a run scored, Shaut had a hit and Musser scored a run.

Shaw started on the mound for Mansfield and was tagged with the loss, going four and a third innings and allowing eight runs (5 earned) on ten hits with three strikeouts. Davis threw an inning and two-thirds, giving up three unearned runs on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Pequignot finished, going one inning and allowing an unearned run on one hit.

North Penn-Mansfield finishes their 2025 season with a record of 13-7.
