NTL BASEBALL: WELLSBORO COMEBACK FALLS SHORT IN DISTRICT IV FIRST ROUND LOSS TO MOUNT CARMEL (2025-05-17)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportMOUNT CARMEL — Ryder Bowen hit a three-run homer in the Hornets’ last at-bat but it wouldn’t be enough as Mount Carmel held on for a 6-3 win in first round District IV 3A baseball action here Saturday.
The second seeded Red Tornadoes took a 1-0 lead on the No. 7 Hornets in the first inning and the score held up until the bottom of the sixth when Mount Carmel had a five-run inning and led 6-0 going into Wellsboro’s final chance at the plate.
Marek Mascho singled and Coen Tennis was hit by a pitch before Bowen’s bomb cut the deficit in half, but Mount Carmel was able to shut the Hornets’ bats down to seal the win.
Gabe Cuneo, Griffin Morral and Max Mascho added base hits for Wellsboro in the loss.
Max Mascho started and went five innings on the mound, allowing six runs (5 earned) on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Gabe Sprouse threw the final inning and allowed two Mount Carmel base hits.
Wellsboro finishes the 2025 season with an 11-10 overall record.
