MANSFIELD — No. 2 seed North Penn-Liberty pounded out 11 base hits and got 14 strikeouts from Elyna Booth as they beat No. 7 Warrior Run 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the District 4 Class 3A playoffs here Tuesday.

Booth went all seven innings in the circle, allowing three runs (2 earned) on six Warrior Run hits and a walk. The junior added two base hits and an RBI to help her own cause, and was one of four Lady Mounties with a multi-hit game.

Maddie Smith (2 runs, 2 sb), Claire Dominick (2 rbi) and Kaylee Graham each had two hits in the win.

Smith led off the bottom of the first with a single and would later score on a Dominick single to open the scoring. Liberty’s 1-0 lead held until the top of the fourth when the Defenders tied the game.

In the home half of the fourth, Maddie McNamara reached base on an error and stole second, followed by a Maddie Smith single, who also swiped second to give Liberty runners on second and third with one out. Haley Litzelman battled through an 11-pitch at-bat before grounding out and Addie Smith walked to load the bases. Dominick was hit by a pitch to force McNamara home and Kameron Lightner drew a walk to score Maddie Smith and Liberty retook the lead, 3-1.

Booth singled in the bottom of the fifth and Elaina Shaw doubled before McNamara reached base on a Defender error and both Addilyn Lehman, who was running for Booth, and Shaw scored to put the Lady Mounties up 5-1.

Warrior Run got two runs back in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-3 before Liberty added their final score in the bottom half when Booth singled and scored Graham to provide the 6-3 final.

Addie Smith (bb), Shaw (2b, 1 run) and McNamara (1 rbi, 1 run, sb) each had a hit for Liberty while Lightner had an RBI and Lehman scored two runs.

North Penn-Liberty (14-4) advances to the semifinals with the win and will face No. 3 seed Hughesville (15-5), who beat No. 6 Towanda 3-0, on Friday at Elm Park in Williamsport at 4:30.
