LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL: SOUTHERN TIOGA MINORS WIN SECTIONALS ON WALK-OFF, HEADED TO STATES (2025-07-09)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTURBOTVILLE, PA — The Southern Tioga minors softball team made history in dramatic fashion here Wednesday, coming back from a 3-run deficit and winning the PA Section 3 title with a walk-off, 10-9 win over Selinsgrove.
Southern Tioga took a 5-0 lead into the fifth inning, but Selinsgrove scored six runs in the top half of the fifth to take a short-lived, 6-5 lead. The District 15 champs plated two runs in the home half to retake the lead, but Selinsgrove .. the District 13 champs .. scored three runs in the top of the sixth to go up 9-7.
After a leadoff line-out in their final at-bat, Southern Tioga got a single from Noelle S., who then scored on a Selinsgrove error off the bat of Danielle V.
A strikeout left Southern Tioga down 9-8 with two outs, but back-to-back walks by Josie A. and Whitini S. loaded the bases. Wesley S. then provided the game-winner, singling and scoring the tying and winning runs.
The District and Sectional champs will now advance to the State tournament, to be held in Drexel Hill, Pa., starting on Sunday.
