NTL GOLF: WELLSBORO GOES 6-1 IN LEAGUE OPENER AT TOWANDA CC (2025-08-11)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTOWANDA — Wellsboro opened the 2025 NTL golf season with a second place finish at Towanda Country Club on Monday.
The Hornets shot a four-player aggregate score of 355 to go 6-1 on the day, behind Towanda (323) while topping Athens (358), North Penn-Mansfield (367), Cowanesque Valley (387), Wyalusing (396), Canton (418) and Sayre (595).
Junior Syler Pietrzyk had the Hornets’ low round, shooting an 82 for first year Head Coach TJ Howe. His overall score was good for fourth, while his 38 on the back nine was the low 9-hole score on the day. Pietrzyk carded a pair of birdies and eight pars.
Freshman Sam Jackson finished tied for sixth overall with an 84 .. including a 39 on the front which tied for the lowest score on the first nine holes with four other players.
Sophomore Chase Schultz shot a 94, freshman Ben Jackson finished with a 95 and sophomore Logan Johnson and senior Kiernen Whitsell each shot rounds of 102.
Wellsboro will be back in action Thursday at River Valley in Westfield.
