“Raegan (VanGorden) and Abby (Gehman) are our returning starters,” says Coach VanGorden, “and both will play crucial roles for us .. leading the team and creating a positive environment on the court.”

VanGorden points to a trio of players who will be asked to take on bigger roles this year.

“Aubrey Wells and Olivia Nolan will be replacing a middle and outside position,” explains VanGorden, “and Bailey Snyder is replacing our libero. All three girls have experience at the varsity level and will very quickly become key players in helping to lead the rest of our team.”

VanGorden is excited for the potential shown by some newcomers in the offseason.

“We had a great turn out our open gyms and camp,” says VanGorden, “We were averaging 15 players for open gyms and had 20 players attend camp. We have a few underclassmen .. including a strong group of freshmen .. who could really step up at the beginning of the season and be a surprising addition to the varsity roster. 

The Lady Warriors went 12-4 in the regular season last year .. with a win over large school champ Troy, a loss to District 4 2A champ Wellsboro and two losses to Class A champ NEB .. and beat perennial-powerhouse North Penn-Liberty in the first round of the District 4 Class 2A playoffs. 

“This will be a growing season for our team,” VanGorden explains, “but our players have a lot of heart, drive and determination so it will be exciting to watch things come together for them on the court. They have some goals that they are working on for each game, as well as overall goals for the season.”

Williamson has a scrimmage scheduled against Northern Potter on August 22nd and will play their season and home opener against Troy on August 26th.
