NTL VOLLEYBALL: DEFENDING DISTRICT CHAMPION HORNETS BACK ON THE COURT (2025-08-13)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
WELLSBORO — The defending District 4 2A champion Wellsboro volleyball team returned to the courts this week under the tutelage of second-year Head Coach Darci Pollock to prepare for their 2025 season.

While the Lady Hornets lost a crucial duo to graduation in Paige Logsdon and Lexi Urena, Pollock is confident that her girls have put in the work needed to replace the now college-bound players .. Logsdon at Mt. Aloyisius and Urena at Seton Hill.

“We have a lot of young players competing for those spots,” explains Pollock, “We’re looking to be a younger team again with many options in each position. I’m excited to have the depth to have different hitters when needed.”

“We had open gyms, plyo workouts and weightlifting throughout the summer with high numbers in attendance,” Pollock continued, “it’s been very competitive this summer.”

Back for the Hornets are senior setter Taylor Main and juniors Blake Eckart (outside hitter), Ellie Largey (setter) and Maddy Cruttenden (libero).

Pollock is optimistic that her Lady Hornets are ready to show off the gains they’ve made since going 12-2 in the league last season and winning Districts.

“The girls have worked so hard this offseason,” says Pollock, “they’re eager to get back out there. It's exciting to see so many girls working hard preparing for the season. We’re looking at another competitive season in the NTL and District 4.”

Wellsboro has a scrimmage at Northern Potter on August 19th and one at home against Galeton on August 21st. They’ll open their season on August 26th at Canton, followed by a game at Sayre on August 28th and will host their home opener with South Williamsport on September 2nd.
