NTL GIRLS SOCCER: WELLSBORO SEES UNDEFEATED TROY PULL AWAY FROM 1-1 HALFTIME DRAW, FALLS 5-2 (2025-09-03)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Lady Hornets were even at 1-1 with undefeated Troy at the break here Wednesday, but the defending league champion Lady Trojans pulled away in the second half and won, 5-2.
Hailey Smith scored both Wellsboro goals .. the first midway through the first half when she stole a Troy goal kick, and the second midway through the final half off an assist from Ella Boyce.
Troy’s Alexis McRoberts scored all five of the Trojans’ goals in the win.
Troy held a 15-2 advantage in shots on goal while the Lady Hornets had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Keeper Jadyn Dunlap recorded eight saves in net for Wellsboro.
Wellsboro (3-1) returns to action Saturday when they host Williamson for a 10 a.m. game.
