NTL GIRLS SOCCER: WILCOX GLUT LIFTS NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD TO 5-1 WIN OVER TOWANDA (2025-09-10)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — Senior Brooke Wilcox scored five goals to lead North Penn-Mansfield to a 5-1 win over Towanda in NTL girls soccer action here Wednesday.
Wilcox opened the game’s scoring with a goal off an assist from Madison Baker with 18 minutes left in the first half, found the net again three minutes later and made it 3-0 with her hat trick goal with less than three minutes left until the break, this time on an assist from Adelyne Yungwirth.
NP-Mansfield’s 3-0 lead held until there was just over 10 minutes remaining when Wilcox scored, unassisted, Towanda got on the board with six minutes left and Wilcox completed her glut of goals on an Abby Garverick assist at the 76:34 mark to provide the final.
North Penn-Mansfield had a 9-5 advantage in shots-on-goal while Towanda held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Tiger keeper Avalon Rew saved four shots in goal.
“We really needed this win today”, said Mansfield Head Coach Maryann Wilcox after her teams’ second win of the season, the most wins for the program since 2019, “it was a big confidence booster for the team. I’m very pleased at how this team is taking what we have focused on at practice and putting it into action during our games. The communication and overall understanding of positioning on the field is starting to click.”
The Lady Tigers (2-3) return to play Saturday with a trip to take on Northumberland Christian.
