HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER: MOUNTIES EARN NON-LEAGUE WIN WITH VALENTINE CLEAN SHEET, 500TH SAVE (2025-10-02)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportLIBERTY — Senior goalie Deakon Valentine collected the 500th save of his career and earned a clean sheet as the Mounties beat Northern Potter 3-0 here Thursday.
Valentine made six saves in the win as North Penn-Liberty out shot the visiting Panthers 18-7 while Northern Potter had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Mounties took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a David Graf unassisted goal.
North Penn-Liberty added two late scores, as Kai Wheeland found the net off a Peter Bishop assist with six and a half minutes left in the second half and Brody Grinnell scored on a Bryce Kent helper with just over two minutes left to provide the 3-0 final.
The Mounties improve their season record to 8-7-1 with the win. They’ll return to action Tuesday at Towanda (2-11).
