NTL CROSS COUNTRY: WELLSBORO'S LAUREN KOSEK WINS NTL INVITE (2025-10-11)
By Chris ManningNorthern Tier West Sports ReportROME — Wellsboro’s Lauren Kosek cruised to a win at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational girls race on Saturday.
Kosek (18:24.1) pulled away from Towanda’s Maris Cobb (19:00) for first as the Hornets were third overall with 71 points.
“It was super exciting,” said Kosek. “NTL’s is known for being really, really rainy, and it’s been chilly for some of our meets, so this (weather) was nice. It was cool, but it was a nice day.”
She came in shooting for a specific time in her head.
“We kind of decided on just trying to beat last year’s time, and just trying to win,” Kosek said. “Practicing being able to push myself when I don’t have competition around, but also not trying to go for anything super crazy with districts coming up.”
Kaci Kosek (22:06.2) was 13th for the Hornets as Sophia Yoder (23:44.1) came in 20th.
Molly Tice (25:28) took 26th, and Luisa Crocco (26:57.1) rounded out their top five.
On the boys’ side Henry Whitney (16:36.6) and Max Macias (16:59.1) were third and fourth for the Hornets, who took seventh as a team with 140 points.
Ethan Geneski (20:10) was 45th, Taitt Webster (20:13.7) came in 46th, and Henry Nowak (20:57.3) was 50th.
