HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER: HORNETS PUSH, FALL TO UNDEFEATED MONTOURSVILLE (2025-10-11)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Wellsboro boys’ soccer team pushed state ranked Montoursville on Saturday, but ultimately came up short and fell to the 14-0-3 Warriors, 2-0.
“I am very proud of the boys,” said Coach Todd Fitch following the game, “It wasn’t the result we wanted, but they were disciplined executing the game plan and had some opportunities against undefeated and state ranked Montoursville.”
After holding the Warriors, who average three and a half goals scored per game this season, out of the net in the first half, Wellsboro went into the break tied at 0-0.
Montoursville took a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the second half, then added the insurance goal with just five seconds remaining in the match.
The Warriors outshot Wellsboro 12-5 as keeper Camden Tom made saves in net for the Hornets.
Wellsboro (11-4-1) will wrap up their regular season at home on Tuesday when they host Loyalsock (6-8-1).
