HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER: LADY TIGERS FALL IN DOUBLE OVERTIME AT MONTGOMERY (2025-10-13)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMONTGOMERY, Pa. — A valiant comeback effort by North Penn-Mansfield came up just shy in the Lady Tigers’ 4-3 double-overtime loss to Montgomery here Monday.
After a scoreless first half, Montgomery got on the board first with a goal six minutes into the second half of play. Adalie Frey tied the match for NP-Mansfield midway through the second with a goal off a Brooke Wilcox assist, but Montgomery added a pair of goals over the next five minutes to take a 3-1 lead.
The Lady Tigers rallied and Wilcox cut it to 3-2 with 10:35 left in regulation on an unassisted goal and tied it up with just over six minutes remaining on a goal off a Cartie Wiest helper to send the match to overtime.
After a scoreless first OT period, Montgomery connected on the game-winner a minute and 39 seconds into the second overtime to end the match.
Montgomery held a 19-15 advantage in shots on goal and a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.
Keeper Avalon Rew madę 15 saves in goal for the Tigers.
Now 8-8-1 on the season, North Penn-Mansfield has one regular season match remaining .. Friday at home with Northeast Bradford (2-14). A win or tie for the 11th ranked Tigers will earn them a District 4 playoff berth, as well as for several sub-.500 teams ahead of them in the standings.
North Penn-Mansfield beat NEB 5-1 in their previous match back on September 3rd.
