The District 4 champ, Hermansen was in the first group to tee off on Monday, slotted for 9 a.m. but delayed an hour due to overnight rain.

Hermansen started off hot despite the chilly weather and strong winds on the course. His plus-1 37 on the front nine was one of the days lowest and included two birdies and four pars. 

A run of three bogeys and a double bogey to start the back nine left Hermansen at plus-6, and after a par and another double bogey he was plus-8 with two holes to go. A birdie on 17 and a par 18th gave Hermansen his plus-7 79 for the day.

Hermansen is tied for 33rd place with seven other golfers, while the leader is at 4-under and there are three golfers under par and one is even at the top of the leaderboard. He’ll repeat his tee time from Monday on Day 2 Tuesday, going off on Hole #1 at 10 a.m.
