NTL BOYS SOCCER: HORNETS' SEASON ENDS WITH PLAYOFF LOSS TO MONTOURSVILLE (2025-10-25)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMILTON, Pa. — The Wellsboro boys’ soccer team saw their season come to an end here Saturday after falling 3-1 to Montoursville (14-1-3) in the second round of the District 4 AA playoffs.
Montoursville, the No. 4 seed, opened the scoring with 12 minutes left in the first half and went into the break up 1-0 on the 5th-seeded Hornets. They’d add to their lead midway through the second half with a pair of goals just 17 seconds apart before Wellsboro avoided the shutout with a Michael Seeling goal off a Liam Stevens assist at the 18:15 mark.
Montoursville out shot the Hornets 11-8 while Wellsboro had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Keeper Camden Tom made seven saves in net for Wellsboro.
“We didn’t get pressure on the ball, which led to their first goal,” said Head Coach Todd Fitch following the loss, “and their quick back-to-back goals in the second half happened while we were making some adjustments. They’re a good team and capitalized on our miscues, but I felt we were right there the whole match with opportunities too. The boys never stopped battling.”
Wellsboro finishes the season with a record of 12-6-2 and a first round playoff win.
