NTL CROSS COUNTRY: CV BOYS WIN TWO, GIRLS SPLIT AT TRI-MEET (2021-09-21)

WESTFIELD — The Cowanesque Valley boys’ cross country team earned a sweep in a tri-meet here Tuesday, beating both Wellsboro and Sullivan County, while the girls beat Sullivan County but fell to Wellsboro.

In the boys’ race, CV had the top-four finishers overall .. top five in their head-to-head meet with Sullivan .. earning 15-49 and 16-43 wins on the day.

Owen Cummings (17:03), Kristian Mizdail (17:10), Nathaniel Welch (17:28) and Glenn Barnes (18:54) finished one through four overall for the Indians, with Nathaniel Boyer (19:35) in sixth.

CV’s remaining runners included: Michael Lundy (20:19) in ninth, Cody Fleming (21:01) in 11th, Thomas Baker (21:10) in 12th, Matthew McKee (21:26) in 13th, Caydion Stone (22:06) in 14th, Bryson Fuhrer (24:37) in 17th, Benjamin Doran (24:50) in 18th and Cole Warner (25:33) in 21st place.

For the girls, who topped Sullivan County 18-34 and fell 19-39 to Wellsboro, McKenna Cary (24:33) was the top Indian finisher in fourth place, followed by Ali Bieser (25:28) in sixth, Teagan Jones (25:48) in seventh and Ryann Slusser (28:37) in 11th place.

The CV boys and girls will return to action when they host Towanda next Tuesday.
