HIGH SCHOOL XC: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD TRIO RUN AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-11-01)
By Chris ManningNorthern Tier West Sports ReportHERSHEY — All three North Penn-Mansfield runners had top-85 finishes at the PIAA Cross-country Championships here Saturday.
In the Class AA girls’ race Leila Garverick (21:16) was 65th while Jaci Fairchild (21:35) took 83rd.
Garverick was 122nd 800 meters in and 102nd at the mile.
She continued to work her way up, sitting 91st halfway through the race then moving up 19 more spots in the next 1.5 kilometers to 72nd before finishing in 65th.
Fairchild also moved up through the race, running in 117th 800 meters in and 104th at the mile.
At the 2-mile she was 88th, then moved up five spots in the final 1.1 miles.
In the Class AA boys’ race Michael Knefley (17:52) took 72nd.
He was 43rd at the mile before slowly falling back, sitting 51st halfway through the race, and 58th at the 2-mile.
