NTL BOYS SOCCER: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY MOUNTIES 2025 SEASON WRAP-UP (November 10, 2025)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
LIBERTY — The North Penn-Liberty Mounties overcame big graduation losses and a roller coaster of a season to finish 2025 with 10 wins and their third straight District 4 playoff appearance.

The Mounties went 11-7-1 last season while scoring 46 goals as a team. With 40 of those goals gone with the graduation of three seniors, Head Coach Matt Grinnell looked to spread out the offensive production in 2025.

NP-Liberty scored 27 goals on the year, as junior Parker Jackson and freshman David Graf led the Mounties with six goals each .. with Graf adding three assists and Jackson one. Seniors Brody Grinnell (3 assists) and Bryce Kent (2 assists), sophomore Mason Forer (2 assists) and freshman Kai Wheeland scored three goals each, senior Truman Loudenslager had two goals and six assists and senior goalie Deakon Valentine had one goal and one assist.

The Mounties hovered around .500 for most of their ’25 season .. without a winning or losing streak that lasted more than two games until a three game skid (Jersey Shore, Wellsboro, Williamson) in late October that left them at 6-7-1 with four games left.

The stretch leading into the losing streak included wins over Galeton (twice), Towanda, Troy and Muncy, losses to Williamson (twice), Wellsboro and Montoursville and a tie against then-undefeated and eventual league champ Athens.

NP-Liberty finished strong, winning their final four games, over Troy, Northern Potter, Towanda and in their regular season finale, handed Athens their lone league loss.

“We were up and down throughout the year,” says Head Coach Matt Grinnell of his 2025 squad, “We would have liked to stay on a strong level all season instead of fluctuating back-and-forth, but the team played very well together after we figured some things out.”

With their 10-7-1 regular season record, the Mounties entered the District 4 playoffs with their highest seed in their three-year stretch .. No. 8 .. and ended their year with a 5-0 loss to No. 9 seed Warrior Run.

Defensively, the Mounties’ standout keeper Valentine had a solid senior season, collecting 134 saves and allowing just 24 goals. Grinnell points to a rotating lineup of defenders as being key to Liberty’s improved goals-against-average.

“We moved a number of boys around a lot,” explains Grinnell, “from the front line to midfield to defense .. they just go and do it and have no questions.”

Stalwarts of the Mountie ‘D’ included George and Peter Bishop, Brody Grinnell, and at times included Graf, Wheeland and Loudenslager.

The Mounties will graduate a strong core of seniors in Grinnell, Peter and George Bishop, Valentine, Loudenslager, Ryan Blackwell and Kent, while returning a number of underclassmen that logged considerable minutes, including juniors Jackson, Kolton Alexander, Jonathan Keiser, Silas Boiywo and Luke Chakraborty, sophomore Forer and freshmen Graf, Wheeland, Noah Ohnmeiss and Nathan Knefley.
