Northern Tier West Sports Report
LIBERTY, Pa. — North Penn-Liberty senior pitcher Elyna Booth signed her letter of intent on Wednesday to attend and play Division II softball at East Stroudsburg University.

In her first year of varsity softball last season, Booth threw 113 innings for North Penn-Liberty, compiling an 11-5 record with a 1.24 ERA and 182 strikeouts and holding opposing hitters to a .161 batting average.

The All-Tioga County Pitcher of the Year added 14 base hits, seven RBI, a .259 batting average and a .355 OBP from the plate and was also named the All-Tioga County Newcomer of the Year.

Booth explained her recruitment process and why she ultimately chose the Warriors.

“I attended several camps and visited ESU,” says Booth, “I really liked the coaching staff and their coaching style, the players I met and the campus. I feel like East Stroudsburg is the best place for me to continue my athletic career and to pursue a career in nursing.”

North Penn-Liberty softball coaches Jason Chapel and Kyle Smith attended Booth’s signing, along with Elyna’s parents, Talia and Edwin Booth, her longtime pitching coach, Shannon Fleishman, North Penn-Mansfield Principal Bill David and North Penn-Liberty Athletic Director Eric Broughton.

“I want to thank my Mom and Dad for their endless support,” said Booth, “as well as all of my teammates and coaches.”
