NTL VOLLEYBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY LADY INDIANS SEASON WRAP-UP (November 16, 2025)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
WESTFIELD — A young Cowanesque Valley Lady Indians volleyball team struggled through a 2-16 season in 2025 while giving first year Head Coach Stephanie Young reason for optimism.

“Cowanesque Valley volleyball ended the season having grown exponentially,” said Young, “We had a season built on growing as a team and as individuals.”

The Lady Indians earned their first win just three games into the season when they beat Northern Potter, then got win No. 2 when they topped Northeast Bradford (1-16) in the first of two meetings with the Lady Panthers.

Young points to lone senior Arianna Cary (8 kills, 11 blocks) as her team’s leader, saying, “Arianna Cary was one of the most influential and the strongest leader to the other players.”

CV’s junior players included setter Jaylynn Anderson (49 points, 6 aces, 12 kills, 26 assists), Kendra Abbott (27 points, 2 aces, 3 kills) and Taylor Eldridge (19 points, 2 aces, 9 kills, 3 assists) while sophomores Ella Schaar (6 aces, 11 kills, 2 blocks), Elizabeth Mascho (46 points, 7 kills, 2 assists, 1 block), libero IsaBella Mascho and Lilah LaBarron (12 kills, 6 blocks) each contributed greatly.

Young singled out rookie Braelynn Balada (27 points, 4 aces, 12 kills, 5 assists, 4 blocks) for her impact on the season, saying, “Braelyn (Balada) was a freshman who showed up in a big way for her team this year.”

The Lady Indians’ 2-win season matches their victory totals from both the 2021 and ’22 seasons, which was followed by an 8-13 record in 2023 and going 7-14 a season ago.
