NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: 2025-'26 COWANESQUE VALLEY INDIANS SEASON PREVIEW (November 25, 2025)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWESTFIELD — The Cowanesque Valley boys’ basketball team struggled through a 3-win season last year, but new Head Coach Dave Kemp is optimistic about his experienced roster.
“We only had a couple wins last year,” says Kemp, who makes the jump to Varsity after coaching the JVs the past three seasons, “but we had no seniors and a nice group of juniors so this is a very experienced group of returning seniors .. plus junior Ashtyn Burdick.”
Burdick, the All-Tioga County Newcomer of the Year last season as a sophomore, averaged 13.5 points per game for the Indians while hitting 46 three-pointers.
The experienced senior class incudes Josh Teague (8.9 PPG), Levi Stahli (8.4 PPG, 17- 3’s), Carsyn Kemp, Jacob Johnson and Parker Lee.
Rounding out the Indians’ varsity roster are junior Danny Smith, sophomores Trevin Hollenbach and Kaiden Mascho and freshman Reed Vargeson.
Kemp expects to field a Varsity/JV roster that includes 15 to 16 players as the Indians look to take the next step in their attempt to build the program.
“Our goal is to improve upon our season from last year,” says Kemp, “I believe if we can play disciplined basketball and improve our fundamentals, we can surprise some teams.”
CV has scrimmages scheduled for Monday against Galeton and on December 1st against Port Allegany before opening the season on December 6th at home against Northern Potter.
