NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: 2025-'26 WILLIAMSON WARRIORS (November 29, 2025)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
TIOGA JUNCTION — Williamson Head Coach Allen Heyler welcomed his boys’ basketball team to the preseason, hoping that the experience his returning players gained off last year’s 4-18 squad results in a more competitive 2025-’26 campaign.

“We're excited about the crew we have this year,” says Heyler, “We're returning strong experience in Maddox (Hartman), AJ (Hargarther), Gabe (Crance), Alex (Watson) and Jacob (Brown). And we have a strong group of newcomers and underclassmen that are hungry and ready to fill some roles for us.”

Last season’s four wins came against Galeton (5-18) and Cowanesque Valley (3-19) .. twice each .. while the Warriors suffered numerous mercy-rule losses. Heyler is looking for his squad to improve on both.

“We expect to compete in games this season,” says Heyler, “and we’ve set a goal to make the Districts 4 playoffs.”

To do so, Heyler points to a number of improvements that the Warriors are working hard to make.

“We're looking to play at a faster pace this season,” says Heyler, “pushing the tempo while taking better care of the ball .. being better at finishing plays at the rim and then playing consistent defense with good communication and controlling the boards.”

Williamson scored just under 35 points per game last season .. with graduated senior Jack Nolan accounting for nearly 60% of that. Heyler will look to replace the lost points by spreading the ball around.

“For us to be successful, we’re going to have to work together to play as a team,” says Heyler, “Balanced scoring and steady improvement from our guys will be essential.”

Leading the way for the returning players will be junior Hartman, who was named to the All-Tioga County second team last season after averaging 6.5 points, 2.7 steals and 3.5 assists per game.

Returners Crance (1.4 PPG, 2.2 RPG) and Hargarther (1.4 PPG, 2.2 RPG) will be joined by incoming classmates Owen Cilino and Jayden Owen to make up the Warriors’ senior class, while Heyler points to a group of underclassmen joining Hartman that could have significant roles this season.

“We have a big junior class (Hartman, Kayden Moon, Jacob Brown, Alex Watson) that has some experience under their belts,” says Heyler, “and some younger guys (sophomores Uriah Davis, Scott Campbell, Mikey Cruz, freshmen Shae Davis, Ayden Silvernail) who are hungry and ready to compete wherever we put them.”

The Warriors had a scrimmage against New Covenant Academy and will open their 2025-’26 season at the Galeton Tipoff Tournament on December 5th and 6th before opening league play at Athens on December 8th and hosting their home opener on December 13th against Northern Potter.
