NTL WRESTLING: 2025-'26 WILLIAMSON WARRIORS (December 3, 2025)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION, Pa. — The Williamson wrestling team returns a ton of experience in 2025-’26, which Head Coach David Wilcox hopes will bolster both team and individual results.
“We have 22 kids on the roster .. including four seniors,” says Wilcox, who enters his 10th season coaching the Warriors, “and with our lineup, our goals include going undefeated in dual meets in the regular season, winning three matches at District Duals and winning the North Sectional.”
Leading an experienced senior class of returning wrestlers .. which includes a 122-44 combined record from last season and over 250 career wins .. is 285-pounder Luke Sottolano, who went 39-11 in 2024-’25 with 24 falls, took 2nd at sectionals, 3rd at both districts and regionals, made his first appearance at States and has 84 career wins coming into this season.
Classmates Hunter Simonds (32-12, 2nd Sect., 7th Dist., Reg. Qualifier at 121 pounds in ’24-’25, 79-38 career record), Ben Freeman (29-10, 2nd Sect., Dist. Qualifier at 215 pounds in ’24-’25, 50-42 career) and Anthony Baker (22-11 at 152 pounds in ’24-’25, 41-33 career) round out Williamson’s senior class.
Also back for the Warriors is 2024-’25 All-Tioga County Wrestler and Newcomer of the Year, sophomore Zander Wilson.
Wilson racked up a 43-3 final record for the Warriors in his inaugural varsity season, won a North Section and District 4 title at 107 pounds and didn’t drop a match until an uncharacteristic loss at Regionals left him wrestling back to place third to qualify for the State Championships.
In Hershey, Wilson won his first match 10-1 before falling in his next two bouts .. to the eventual 4th and 6th place finishers.
Wilcox points to a strong group of sophomores as returning wrestlers that are looking to take the next step for the Warriors after successful freshman seasons in Walker Hyde (28-10, 5th Sect. at 114), Kohen Vandelinder (22-14 at 139), Lhandyn Nauman (12-23, 6th Sect. at 145) and Stevie Olson (22-13, 6th Sect. at 160).
Also included in the Warriors’ plans to fill out their lineup are newcomers Xander Stafford (121), Memphis Brockway (152) and Spencer Vandelinder (107).
The Warriors, who finished with a 16-5 dual meet record last season that included a 5-3 mark in the NTL with losses coming to Athens, Towanda and North Penn-Liberty, will get a pair of early tests as they host Athens on Tuesday, December 9th and are at Towanda on Thursday, December 11th.
After wrestling at the STWOA Holiday Classic at Jamestown CC on December 12th and 13th, where the Warriors placed 2nd as a team last season, they’ll host Troy on December 16th and visit Canton on the 17th before breaking for the holidays.
Williamson will return to the mats on January 2nd and 3rd at the Geesaman Invitational at Northern Lebanon, host Wellsboro on January 6th, visit Northeast Bradford on January 8th and compete at the Southern Tier Memorial in Elmira on January 9th and 10th.
