HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL: WELLSBORO DROPS SEASON OPENER TO LOYALSOCK (December 5, 2025)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportLOYALSOCK — Wellsboro went on the road for their season opener and led after a quarter of play before falling to the host Loyalsock Lancers 63-42 in non-league boys basketball action Friday night.
The Hornets led 13-11 after the first quarter as Colin Fletcher hit the first of his five three-pointers on the night and scored five points early to go along with four points from Luke Rothermel.
Fletcher finished with a double-double of 23 points and 11 steals, while Rothermel had eight points in the loss and added six rebounds and three assists.
A 13-9 Loyalsock second quarter put the Lancers up 24-22 at the break and big third (21-11) and fourth (18-9) quarters sealed the win.
Ethan Keane had four points for the Hornets while Jonathan Carl had three points, Griffen Morral had two points and six rebounds and Ransom Schultz added two points.
Wellsboro (0-1) will next host their home opener on Thursday against Northeast Bradford.
The Junior Varsity team won their game, 52-35, behind 13 points from James Doughtie and 12 from Brayden Jessup.
