HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY WINS OPENER AT MONTGOMERY (December 5, 2025)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMONTGOMERY — The Mounties opened their 2025-’26 season at the Montgomery Tournament on Friday, taking a 12-point lead at halftime and holding the host Red Raiders off to earn a 60-54 win.
Luke Kreger (17) and Evan McTish (16) combined for 33 points in the win and each scored four first quarter points to go along with Landon Mattern’s seven points as North Penn-Liberty took a 15-8 lead into the second frame.
Mattern finished with nine points, as did Conner Lewis, while Sudan Benner added five points and Brody Grinnell rounded out the Mounties’ scoring with four points. The Mounties went 9-for-23 from the free throw line while Montgomery was 8-for-18.
Liberty led 30-18 at the break before Montgomery closed the gap with a 17-15 third quarter and a 19-15 fourth to provide the final.
The Mounties (1-0) will play in the championship game on Saturday.
