NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD TOPPED BY ATHENS (January 7, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportATHENS — North Penn-Mansfield held Athens to a lone first quarter point but ultimately fell to the host Lady Wildcats, 44-34, in NTL girls’ basketball action here Wednesday.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 10-1 lead after a quarter of play before Athens came back to take the second quarter 10-6 and cut NPM’s halftime lead to 16-11.
The Wildcats overtook Mansfield with a 19-8 third quarter and closed out the win with a 14-10 advantage in the final frame.
Kameron Lightner led the Tigers with a double-double of 14 points and 18 rebounds, while Maddy McNamara had eight points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Addie Lehman had four points, two rebounds and two steals, Julia Kaczynski had four points and six rebounds and Emmi Route and Avalon Rew each had two points.
North Penn-Mansfield (4-4) returns to action Friday at Wyalusing.
