HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: SOTTOLANO & WILSON LEAD WILLIAMSON INTO DAY 2 AT SOUTHERN TIER MEMORIAL (January 9, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportELMIRA, NY — 11 of Williamson’s dozen wrestlers earned at least one win on the first day of the Southern Tier Memorial Wrestling Tournament Friday, as the Warriors send Luke Sottolano and Zander Wilson into the semifinals and six wrestlers onto Day 2.
Wilson (118) earned a pair of tech falls and a pin to reach the semis, while Sottolano (285) had two falls and a 4-2 decision in the quarterfinals to advance.
Stevie Olson (175) won his first two matches by fall but fell into the consolation rounds following a loss in the quarterfinals, while Hunter Simonds (126) went 3-1 on the day with a pair of falls and a major decision to stay alive for the second day.
Memphis Brockway (157) lost his first match but advances to Saturday with a fall and a forfeit win, while Riley Rall (190) lost his first match of the tourney and won three straight in the losers bracket to move on.
Xander Stafford (126) went 2-2, Kolton Putt (132), Michael Wilson (132), Ryder Dacheux (138) and Harlow Little (190) each went 1-2, while Jayden Bovee (144) went 0-2.
Wrestling resumes Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
