HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: WILLIAMSON PUTS THREE ON SOUTHERN TIER MEMORIAL PODIUM (January 10, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportELMIRA — The Williamson Warriors placed 11th at the Southern Tier Memorial Wrestling Tournament, led by sophomore Zander Wilson’s runner-up finish at 118 pounds and 3rd-place finishers Luke Sottolano (285) and Stevie Olson (175).
Wilson followed up his Day 1 dominance with a 7-6 decision in the semifinals Saturday morning to reach the 118-pound final. There, Wilson faced and fell to St. Anthony (NY) senior Brett Crawford, a Division 1 Mercyhurst commit, to claim second place.
Sottolano reached the 285-pound semifinal but fell 4-1 to Upper Dauphin’s Eoghan Savage, a 2024-’25 PIAA State Qualifier. Sottolano won his consolation semifinal match by fall in 2:25, then secured his 3rd-place finish with a 3-1 (TB-1) decision.
Olson had been knocked into the 175-pound consolation bracket with a quarterfinal loss on Friday, before winning four straight to claim bronze .. by a fall in :46, a fall in :57, a forfeit and a fall in 2:49.
Three other Warriors reached Day 2 .. Hunter Simonds (126), Memphis Brockway (157) and Riley Rall (190) .. and all were knocked from the tourney in Saturday morning’s blood round, a win away from placing.
Williamson scored 110 points in the tournament, good for 11th place among the 39 teams.
