NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: WELLSBORO TOPS TROJANS ON THE ROAD (January 13, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTROY — Wellsboro used big first and fourth quarters to beat defending league and District 4 champ Troy, 68-63, in NTL large school boys’ basketball play here Tuesday night.
Colin Fletcher (24) and Luke Rothermel (21) combined for 45 points in the win for the Hornets.
Fletcher did his damage early .. scoring 11 points in each of the first two quarters .. while Rothermel scored 13 second half points, including six in the Hornets’ 18-9 final frame where five Wellsboro players scored to seal the win.
“It was a great team effort tonight,” said Wellsboro head coach Ron Doughtie following the win, “We needed everyone to counter the night Trey (Teribury) had. We really toughed it out at the end .. I’m really proud of the way we stuck together for the win.”
Teribury scored a game-high 36 points in the loss, including 16 in the Trojans’ 24-18 second quarter that cut Wellsboro’s 21-10 first quarter lead to 39-34 at the break.
The Trojans took the lead in the third quarter as Teribury hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points to overcome Rothermel’s seven points in the frame and give Troy a 54-50 lead going into the fourth.
Rothermel (6), Ransom Schultz (4), Griffin Morral (3), Gideon Lawton (3) and Marek Mascho (2) all scored in the fourth quarter and the Hornets doubled up Troy 18-9 to earn the ‘W’.
Rothermel added eight rebounds and three assists in the win, while Morral finished with eight points, five boards and three assists, Schultz, Jonathan Carl and Mascho each had four points and Lawton had three.
The win lifts Wellsboro to a 6-5 overall record on the season. They’re scheduled to next host Athens, on Thursday.
