NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD EARNS PLAYOFF BERTH WITH ROMP OVER WELLSBORO (January 29, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — North Penn-Mansfield rolled to a 40-10 mercy-rule win over Wellsboro here Thursday, giving the Lady Tigers their 11th win of the season and a berth in the District 4 Class 3A playoffs.
NPM’s defense allowed just three baskets on the night by Wellsboro, while the Tigers jumped out to a 15-2 lead after a quarter of play and went up 20-7 at the break.
An 8-3 NPM third quarter and a 12-0 fourth provided the final.
Kameron Lightner led Mansfield with a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds and added three steals and two assists while Maddy McNamara had seven points, Addie Lehman had five, Julia Kaczynski had four points, Elaina Shaw and Emmi Route had three points each and Iris Irwin scored two points.
Ady Frantz led Wellsboro with four points, Kya Lawton had three, Kate Bryant had two and Lena Rothermel had one point.
North Penn-Mansfield secures a District 4 playoff berth with the win and stands at 11-7 on the season with three games left, starting Tuesday when they host Athens.
Wellsboro (4-14) returns to play on Tuesday when they host Wyalusing.
