HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY DROPS NON-LEAGUE GAME AT SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT (February 2, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportSOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — North Penn-Liberty outscored South Williamsport 35-24 in the middle quarters of their non-league boys’ basketball match-up here Monday, but a strong start and finish lifted the host Mounties to a 54-51 win.
South Williamsport took a 14-9 lead after one quarter of play before Liberty used 10 points from Luke Kreger to outscore SW 19-15 in the second to make it a one-point game at the break and.. 29-28.
A 16-9 third frame in favor of NPL put them up 44-38 going to the fourth, but South rallied for a 16-7 final quarter to steal the win.
Kreger finished with 18 points in the loss and added seven rebounds, while Evan McTish had nine points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Landon Mattern had eight points, Connor Lewis had seven points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks, Brody Grinnell had seven points and four steals and Sudan Benner rounded out the visiting Mounties’ scoring with two points.
North Penn-Liberty (12-8) has two games remaining in the regular season, starting Wednesday at Williamson followed by a home game against Canton on Friday.
