NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD FALLS TO ATHENS DESPITE BIG NIGHT FROM HERMANSEN (February 4, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportATHENS — Senior Andy Hermansen scored all of North Penn-Mansfield’s 14 fourth quarter points but the Tigers were unable to keep Athens from pulling away and fell to the Wildcats, 66-58.
Hermansen finished with 25 points in the loss. He and classmate Jason Harer scored four points apiece in an Athens’ 19-15 first quarter. Harer scored seven points in the second quarter and Hermansen and Colton Pellett added four each as Mansfield outscored Athens 18-11 to take a 33-30 lead into the locker rooms.
A 16-11 third quarter in favor of the Wildcats gave Athens a 46-44 lead as they headed to the final frame, where they scored 20 points to overcome Hermansen’s big quarter, which included four 3-pointers, to seal the win.
Harer finished with 11 points while Layne Cummings had seven, Patrick Youmans had six points, Pellett and Keaton Manikowski scored four points each and Kevin Clemente-Vazquez had one point.
North Penn-Mansfield (11-9) returns to action Friday at Wyalusing.
