DISTRICT IV BOYS BASKETBALL: NPL MOUNTIES BEGIN TITLE DEFENSE TUESDAY (February 16, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportLIBERTY — The second-seeded North Penn-Liberty boys basketball team will start their District IV Class A title defense on Tuesday when they host No. 7 seed Benton.
The Mounties (14-9) played Benton (6-13) on January 19th this season and led the Tigers 50-18 after three quarters of play before winning 52-27.
Conner Lewis (8.5 ppg) led NPL against Benton with a double-double of 12 points and 19 rebounds while Landon Mattern (7.6 ppg) had 11 points, Luke Kreger (14 ppg) had nine points and Evan McTish (14.5 ppg) and Sudan Benner had eight points each.
With a first round win North Penn-Liberty would advance to play the winner between No. 3 seed Meadowbrook Christian .. who the Mounties beat 50-24 this season .. and No. 6 seed Millville (7-13).
