DISTRICT IV BASKETBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY BOYS & GIRLS TO PLAY DOUBLE HEADER AT MUNCY (February 16, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMUNCY — The Cowanesque Valley boys and girls basketball teams each qualified for the District IV Class 2A playoffs as the No. 7 seeds and both will face Muncy, whose teams both earned No. 2 seeds.
The CV boys finished the season 8-14, qualifying for the playoffs despite a sub-.500 record with the District taking the eight top teams in each class. The CV Indians will face a Muncy Indians team that finished 16-6 to claim the No. 2 seed.
Muncy relies heavily on junior Jaxton Frantz, who scores 17 points per game, followed by seniors Dominic Guardini (11.7 PPG) and Nixon Lamper (7.8 PPG, 7.7 RPG).
For CV, Levi Stahli scores 11 PPG while Ashtyn Burdick nets 10 PPG, Joshua Teague scores 8.5 PPG and Parker Lee adds 6.5 PPG.
While the two didn’t play this season, they have several common opponents.
Muncy beat Troy 71-51 while CV fell 67-34 to the Trojans. Towanda beat both .. Muncy 48-41 and CV 75-50 .. and Muncy beat North Penn-Liberty 58-52 while CV fell to the Mounties twice .. 61-45 and 61-48.
On the girls’ side, CV finished 4-18 and like the boys, made the playoffs due to District IV taking eight teams. Also the No. 7 seed, the CV Lady Indians will face Muncy’s Lady Indians, who had a 19-3 record and are the No. 2 seed.
Starr Ordway leads CV in scoring with nine points per game while Jaylynn Anderson scores four points per game and has hit 19 threes.
The two have common opponents, including North Penn-Mansfield, who beat CV 48-16 and lost to Muncy, 45-38, and Northeast Bradford, who beat Muncy 35-30 and CV twice .. 64-28 and 51-11.
The girls’ game will tip off at 6 p.m. while the boys will play at 7:30 p.m.
