DISTRICT IV BOYS BASKETBALL: MOUNTIES ROUT BENTON IN CLASS A OPENER (February 17, 2026)

LIBERTY — No. 2 seed North Penn-Liberty had no issues in their Class A quarterfinal match-up of the District IV playoffs on Tuesday, routing No. 7 seed Benton, 68-31, behind 27 points from senior Evan McTish.

Luke Kreger and Landon Mattern joined McTish in double figures for scoring as Kreger scored 15 and Mattern had 11 points. The three led the Mounties to a 19-5, first quarter lead as Mattern scored six early points, Kreger had five and McTish scored four points.

Liberty exploded for a 25-point second frame as McTish scored nine points with Kreger netting six on a pair of threes and Mattern added five points to give the Mounties a 44-14 halftime lead to set up a fast second half with a running clock.

McTish scored 12 points in the third quarter as Liberty went up by 40 at 60-20 before Benton finished with an 11-8 fourth to provide the final.

Kreger added four assists and three steals while McTish grabbed nine rebounds in the blowout win. Conner Lewis scored eight points and had 10 boards and five assists, Brody Grinnell had three points, five assists and three steals and Kaiden Mowery and Ayden Phommavong each chipped in with two points.

North Penn-Liberty advances to face No. 3 seed Meadowbrook Christian .. 65-50 winners over No. 6 seed Millville .. at a place and time to be determined.
