DISTRICT IV GIRLS BASKETBALL: NP-LIBERTY SEASON ENDS WITH FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF LOSS AT NORTHUMBERLAND CHRISTIAN (February 18, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportNORTHUMBERLAND — A slow start doomed North Penn-Liberty Wednesday as the Lady Mounties fell 39-30 to Northumberland Christian in the first round of the District IV Class A playoffs.
The host Lady Lions (12-4) jumped out to an 11-2 lead after the first quarter, holding NPL to a pair of free throws by leading scorer Haley Litzelman, before Liberty played Northumberland even in the second quarter to go into the locker rooms down 19-10.
Litzelman finished with 22 points in the loss, including all 12 of Liberty’s third quarter points as the Mounties cut the lead to 27-22, but a 12-8 Northumberland Christian fourth quarter provided the final.
Litzelman recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds while Victoria McTish had four points and Scarlett Graham and Serena Boiywo rounded out Liberty’s scoring attack with two points each.
North Penn-Liberty finishes their season with a 9-14 record.
