DISTRICT IV BOYS BASKETBALL: HORNETS HANG WITH TOP-SEEDED WARRIOR RUN FOR A HALF, FALL 73-39 (February 19, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTURBOTVILLE — Wellsboro was outscored 40-12 in the second half of their District IV 3A quarterfinal game here Thursday and fell to top-seeded Warrior Run, 73-39.
The host Defenders jumped out to a 20-9 lead on No. 9 seed Wellsboro after a quarter of play before the Hornets put seven players in the scoring column in the second quarter and cut Warrior Run’s lead to 33-27 at the halftime break.
Senior Luke Rothermel scored all five of Wellsboro’s third quarter points as the Defenders went up 52-32 as they headed to the final frame, where a 21-7 advantage for WR provided the 73-39 final to end the Hornets season.
Rothermel led the Hornets with 11 points and added eight rebounds in the loss. Griffin Morral and Colin Fletcher scored seven points each with Morral adding six boards and four assists, Gideon Lawton and James Doughtie had four points each, Marek Mascho and Keegan Vanzile had two points each and Jonathan Carl rounded out Wellsboro’s scoring with one point.
Wellsboro finishes the season with a record of 12-12.
