NTL WRESTLING: WILLIAMSON'S WILSON & SOTTOLANO HEADED TO HERSHEY AS REGIONAL CHAMPS (February 28, 2026)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — Williamson was one of just four teams to crown a pair of champions at the 2026 North East 2A Regional here Saturday, as sophomore Zander Wilson and senior Luke Sottolano each won a title for the Warriors.

With their titles .. each of the Williamson teammates’ third in a row this postseason and first at Regionals .. comes not just a trip to Hershey, but hopefully a favorable seed and draw at the PIAA State Championships next week.

Sophomore Wilson took the same path to his Regional title at 114 pounds that he had at Districts, beating Midd-West junior Mason Kerstetter in the quarterfinals (7-5), Montgomery freshman Gabe Oberheim in the semis (7-6) and tech falling Southern Columbia senior Rowen Humphrey in the finals (18-0).

Wilson ran his season record to 38-4 and his career record to 81-7 as he makes his second trip to States after finishing 3rd at last year’s Regional.

Senior 285-pounder Sottolano will also make his second trip to Hershey, having also placed 3rd in last season’s Regional. After a pair of dominating wins to reach Saturday’s final, Sottolano earned a hard-fought, 1-0 win over Warrior Run junior Noah Johnson to claim gold.

Sottolano pinned Troy’s Reed Palmer in Friday night’s quarterfinal and major decisioned Southern Columbia sophomore Braylin Smith 12-1 in the semis.

Sottolano takes a 42-2 season record and 126 career wins into his final appearance at States.

Williamson’s third wrestler at Regionals, senior Hunter Simonds, came up just shy of the podium and a trip to States by taking 5th place at 127 pounds.

After winning his opener 15-0 and falling to eventual champ CJ Caines from Hanover Friday night, Simonds won two straight consolation round bouts Saturday morning. A loss to eventual 3rd-place finisher Carden Wagner from Montgomery left Simonds in the 5th/6th place match where the senior received a forfeit to end his season with a 39-12 record and his 118th career win.

Simonds will be the first alternate at 127 pounds to receive a trip to States if any of the top-4 place winners need to withdraw.

Wrestling in Hershey begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday. Look for a rundown of Wilson’s and Sottolano’s State brackets soon.
