NTL WRESTLING: WILLIAMSON'S WILSON & SOTTOLANO ADVANCE TO STATE QUARTERS (March 5, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportHERSHEY — Williamson’s Zander Wilson and Luke Sottolano each won their first round matches at Day 1 of the PIAA Wrestling Championships and will continue their hunt for hardware in Friday’s quarterfinals.
Sophomore Wilson (39-4) earned a 10-1 major decision in his opener against Everett sophomore Tucker Smith (37-11).
The North Section, District IV and North East Regional champ now faces Halifax junior Izaya Schickley (40-3) in the 114-pound quarterfinals. Schickley was a South East Regional runner-up.
Sottolano (43-2), a senior and the North Section, District IV and NE Regional champ, won his first round match 7-1 over Glendale senior Daniel Williams (45-5). He’ll wrestle Fairfield junior Caleb Tyler (33-3), the South East runner-up, in the quarterfinals.
Wrestling resumes Friday morning at 8 a.m. with the championship bracket quarterfinals and the second round of consolation matches.
