NTL WRESTLING: LUKE SOTTOLANO & ZANDER WILSON EARN STATE MEDALS FOR WILLIAMSON (March 7, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportHERSHEY — Williamson sophomore Zander Wilson and senior Luke Sottolano each won Sectional, District and Regional titles and culminated their postseason runs with 7th-place medals at the PIAA State Championships on Saturday.
Wilson opened States with a 10-1 major decision before getting knocked into the 114-pound consolation bracket with an 8-0 loss to eventual 4th-place finisher Izaya Schickley, a junior from Halifax. A 4-2 consolation win was followed by an 18-3 loss to Faith Christian freshman Cruz Little, the 3rd-place winner, sending Wilson to the 7th/8th place bout.
There, Wilson faced Southern Columbia’s Rowen Humphrey, who Wilson beat in both the District and Regional finals this year. Saturday, Wilson rode out first and second period takedowns to top Humphrey 6-0 and claim his first State medal.
Wilson finishes his sophomore season with a 41-6 record, including an 11-2 mark in the postseason.
In his five matches at States, Sottolano faced four eventual medalists, including in his opening bout, a 7-1 over Glendale senior Daniel Williams, the 6th-place finisher, before falling 2-1 to eventual 285-pound runner-up Caleb Tyler, a junior from Fairfield. A 4-2 consolation win led to another 2-1 loss .. to Upper Darby junior Eoghan Savage, the 5th-place winner.
In Saturday’s 7th/8th place bout, Sottolano faced Conneaut Area senior Drew Dygert. After wrestling to a 0-0 draw through regulation, Sottolano secured the win and 7th place with a takedown in sudden victory.
Sottolano finishes his final season for the Warriors with a 45-4 record, including going 11-2 during his postseason run. The senior ends his Williamson career with 129 wins.
