NTL SOFTBALL: WELLSBORO ROUTS SAYRE FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN (April 9, 2026)

SAYRE — The Lady Hornets pounded out 22 base hits and took advantage of 10 Sayre errors to beat the Redskins 18-6 in NTL softball play here Thursday.

Wellsboro built a 13-0 lead (5 in the 1st, 4 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th) before Sayre scored all six of their runs in the bottom of the 4th frame. The Lady Hornets added their final five runs in the 6th inning to end the game early. 

Ten Hornets had base hits with eight players recording a multi-hit game .. led by Kaylee Frazier’s (3b, 2 rbi, 1 run) four hits, three each by Rylee Coolidge (2b, 2 rbi, 2 runs) and Paityn Biery (2 rbi, 1 run), two each by Harleigh Cleveland (1 run), Gena Fleming (2b, 1 rbi, 3 runs), Ady Frantz (3b, 1 rbi, 2 runs), Maddie Flannery (3 rbi, 2 runs) and Haylie Smith (2b, 2 runs) and one each by Emmaleigh Hamblin (2b, 1 run) and Mazie Johnson (1 rbi, 1 run). Lacie Brutsman and Delaney Morral each scored a run in the win.

Fleming started and threw all six innings for the win, allowing six unearned runs on five Sayre hits and three walks with 12 strikeouts.

Wellsboro, now 4-3 with their third straight win, returns to action on Saturday at Cowanesque Valley.
