NTL SOFTBALL: FRANTZ HITS MILESTONE IN WELLSBORO WIN OVER CV (April 11, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Ady Frantz led the Lady Hornets from the circle and at the plate as Wellsboro earned their fourth straight win, topping Cowanesque Valley 10-7 on Saturday.
Frantz pitched all seven innings, allowing seven runs (3 earned) on six CV hits and six walks while striking out 12 .. including the 200th K of the sophomore’s varsity career.
At the plate, Frantz drove in five runs with a single, a triple and a fourth inning grand slam home run that helped the Hornets take an 8-4 lead.
CV got two runs back in the fifth and cut the lead to one with a run in the sixth before Wellsboro plated their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
Teagan Novinger (1 rbi, 1 run) also had a home run for the Lady Hornets, while Haylie Smith (3 runs) had a pair of base hits, Kaylee Frazier (1 run), Harleigh Cleveland (1 run) and Rylee Coolidge (1 rbi, 1 run) had a base hit each and Gena Fleming had an RBI.
For Cowanesque Valley, Lilah LaBarron (3b, 1 rbi, 1 run) had three base hits, Raegan Watson (1 rbi, 1 run) had two hits and Katie Huzey had one. Zeraya Wilson had an RBI and scored twice, Braelynn Balada had an RBI and Emma Carl, Taylor Eldridge and Bella Mascho each scored a run.
Carl started for CV and went three and two-third innings, allowing seven runs (5 earned) on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout. LaBarron pitched the final two and a third, giving up three earned runs on two base hits and three walks with two Ks.
Wellsboro (5-3) is scheduled to return to action Thursday when they host North Penn-Liberty.
CV (3-3) is at Northern Potter on Monday.
