NTL SOFTBALL: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY LADY MOUNTIES ROLL TO WIN OVER WELLSBORO (April 16, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — North Penn-Liberty scored 13 unanswered runs and Elyna Booth threw a one-hitter as the Lady Mounties topped Wellsboro 13-1 in NTL large school softball action here Thursday.
After one and a half scoreless innings the Lady Hornets plated a run in the bottom of the second. From there, it would be all North Penn-Liberty as Booth finished off the five inning win allowing the lone unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out 13 Wellsboro batters.
The Mounties scored two runs in the third and eight in the fourth .. highlighted by a three-run home run by Booth .. before scoring their final three runs in the fifth.
Booth finished with four RBI while Claire Dominick had two hits, with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Haley Litzelman had a double, two RBI and a run scored and Addie Lehman had a hit, an RBI and scored twice.
Elaina Shaw and Maddy Smith each had a hit and two runs scored, Julia Kaczynski had a hit and a run scored and Maddie McNamara and Kameron Lightner each scored.
Haylie Smith had Wellsboro’s lone base hit and Maddie Flannery scored the Hornets’ run.
Ady Frantz took the loss for Wellsboro, going three and a third innings and giving up nine runs (2 earned) on five base hits and four walks with eight strikeouts. Gena Fleming pitched the final one and two-third innings and allowed four runs (1 earned) on three hits and four walks.
North Penn-Liberty improves to 8-2 on the season with their seventh straight win. They’re at Towanda on Tuesday.
Wellsboro’s four game winning streak ends with the loss and the Hornets are now 5-4. They’re scheduled to play at Troy on Friday.
